Let's get into it!

FIFA Did WHAT!?

This week could be the start of something VERY special…

Last month we told you that tech announcements this Summer could pretty heavily revolve around the Women’s World Cup.

With the tournament kicking off this Thursday, it looks like we were right; and this one is – how should we put this – kinda outrageous 😅😅😅

When thinking about the beautiful game’s most prestigious competition, I’m not sure many people would associate it with video games – let alone Roblox.

But, as we’ve seen over the course of the last few months, you’re better off just expecting the unexpected these days 😂😂😂

So with that, the Women’s World Cup x Roblox: Here’s what we know so far…

Alright, alright. While the idea may not make much sense at first glance, it actually isn’t as outlandish as it seems.

As support for Women’s Football is only continuing to grow, now is the PERFECT time to garner more support and engage newer fans.

By teaming up with Roblox – one of the world’s most popular family friendly games – FIFA can focus on younger generations, boosting involvement not only for this year’s competition, but also future iterations.

Alongside offering a wide variety of personalisation options, the current plan for the partnership will give visitors of ‘Fifa World’ the opportunity to watch highlights, see live scores, access original content, and more!

In looking at Roblox’s links to VR and Metaverse activity, the partnership could actually spur Football’s biggest organisation into the digital limelight.

Seeing as the game has already teamed up with the NHL, Wimbledon, NFL, and other HUGE sporting organisations, this seems like a step in the right direction.

“Through this integration, we aim to bring the excitement and passion of the tournament to Roblox’s global community of over 66 million daily active users, offering them an unprecedented opportunity to engage with the event like never before.”

Romy Gai, FIFA Chief Business Officer

This is The Future of Sport!

Look, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. It’s looking more and more likely that the future of sports coverage lies in subscription-based services.

With broadcasters such as Amazon Prime and Peacock excelling in their offers, one company has stood out in the field.

Creating a user-friendly way for fans to watch and engage with a variety of different sports, DAZN are seriously changing the game.

From Boxing, to Football, and more, the company’s live and on-demand streaming services have simplified sports broadcasting and – for the most part – has left fans with an easy-to-use platform whereby they can access all their favourite sports.

So with all that, you may be thinking to yourself what now?

Well, it looks like the company is planning to take over another industry – Ticketing.

We’ve all been there: either desperately wanting to make it to an event but not finding a ticket, or – as is becoming WAY too common – have been sold an illegitimate ticket.

Using DAZN’s new system, that could be a thing of the past…

  • Using their mobile app, DAZN will begin distributing tickets to major sporting events. The hope for this new venture is that engagement will increase due to the ease at which tickets can be bought.

  • Partnering with ticket technology firm, Daimani, the organisation will look to place functionality on top. Specifically by including things such as shared wallets, one-click purchase and personalisation options, fans could be in for a treat.

  • Being available across Europe, DAZN will use user preferences to notify users on events near them.

“The sports entertainment space is extremely fragmented with a growing number of apps and content owners… DAZN is building a frictionless super app for sports fans – a single destination platform where they can enjoy the live game and access the full range of sports related products and services on one app, with one account and one wallet to watch, play, chat, transact and bet.”

Shay Segev, DAZN Group Chief Executive

The NFL: Anytime, Anywhere

Being the global powerhouse that it is, the NFL has a commitment to fans both domestically and abroad.

While that may make things a bit more complicated, the potential that it holds could be HUGE 🔥

Having already recognised its need, the league has hosted events in the UK, as well as opening stores and more across the globe.

We think it could be improved. If you don’t know what we mean, some of the events were held at Spurs…

No one wants that.

Alright, we’re kidding. But, it looks the Washington Commanders have found a way to engage their global fan base without the hassle of touring the world 😅

Striking a deal with video game advertising and monetisation specialists, Bidstack, the Commanders are looking to use VR to revolutionise the way we interact with our favourite sports teams.

Using Bidstack to enhance experiences in their virtual stadium, the Commander’s are looking to gain independence in marketing control and improve the delivery of advertising assets.

“We are thrilled to partner with both Bidstack Sports and Status Pro, creators of NFL Pro Era, as they introduce a truly innovative, first-of-its-kind technology to our fans... As the first-ever NFL club to use this technology, we look forward to creating new and exciting value for our partners through cross-world sponsorship packages and bringing unique experiences to our fans in the virtual space.”

Anthony Cangelosi, Washington Commanders Vice President of Partnership Sales

We Need to Talk About: Wimbledon

We’ve spoken about Wimbledon a lot recently, but we just could NOT leave yesterday’s result alone…

Winning Wimbledon is one of the most difficult things an athlete can achieve. Shock, we know 😂

Now imagine having to do it against Tennis’ greatest ever player and – oh yeah – HAVING JUST TURNED TWENTY YEARS OLD!?!

Sounds pretty impossible, right?

Well, sometimes sport provides us moments which just don’t make sense. Yesterday was one of those moments.

In a match which felt like the passing of the torch, Carlos Alcarez defeated Novak Djokovic in a game which highlighted Tennis’ best.

From broken records, to comebacks, and as much drama as you could think of, this game had everything.

While Tennis may have implemented some serious technology recently, it looks like fans should be most excited about Alcarez.

I mean, if you don’t believe us, listen to this…

“People have been talking about his game consisting of certain elements from Roger, Rafa, & myself. I’d agree with that. He’s basically got the best of all 3 worlds… I haven’t played a player like him ever”

Novak Djokovic

Here’s to next year, Wimbledon 🍻
