Let's get into it!

The Sport of Tomorrow…

If we would have told you guys a couple months back that Golf would be one of the most innovative sports in the tech scene, we’re sure more than an eyebrow or two would be raised.

In fact, we’d probably have just received a bunch of remarks saying that it’s boring or just not that fun to watch.

And while that may not have been wrong, ever since the sport has been going through some serious change.

I mean from drama, to excitement, and more, the game’s had it all…

Being led by a wave of technological change, there’s one organisation who have been particularly active in changing the face of modern Golf – TMRW Sports.

Yep, that’s right. For those who don’t know too much about the company, let us fill you in.

Founded by Golf’s biggest superstars – Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – the firm is dedicated towards building the future of sport.

Harnessing a variety of different technologies to bring across change, there’s no better example of their aims than TGL Golf – TMRW Sports’ very own Golf league.

Why do we say this? Well, the tournament will be played in its entirety on a VIRTUAL COURSE 🤯🤯🤯🤯

And that’s the exact reason we’re talking about them today…

Signing a deal with Full Swing, the tournament organisers have announced their official technology partner.

With Full Swing promising to showcase their simulation capabilities on a grand scale, this is what we know so far:

  • Players competing at the tournament will be equipped with Full Swing’s simulator in order to prepare and train at a high level.

  • Full Swing will build out a virtual world for TGL, displaying it on a HUGE 64ft x 46ft screen.

“Over three years, Full Swing has been working with TGL's gameplay and technology teams to help develop our never-before-seen sports concept of merging live action and virtual technology. In the end, a majority of the technology solutions driving our gameplay experience will be Full Swing.”

Andrew Macaulay, CTO of TGL and TMRW Sports

The NHL is NOT Letting up!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again…

Why do we love technology? Well, to put it simply, it makes our lives just that tiny bit more easy 😅😅

Helping us in nearly every facet of our day-to-day lives, it doesn’t just stop there. In fact, it can even change the way some of the biggest sporting institutions function.

I mean, just ask the NHL!

Having made some pretty outrageous – in the best possible way – partnerships recently, the world’s biggest Hockey league is constantly trying to use technology to better engage fans with their product.

Whether it be through AR, TV shows with Disney, or in video games with Roblox, it doesn’t look like they’re going to stop any time soon…

So what now, you ask? Aiming to further appeal to their global fan base, the NHL have partnered with Brightcove.

Expecting to technologically transform the way they distribute, manage, and monetise video, this could spell some pretty big things for the NHL…

Here’s what to expect:

  • Using their digital capabilities, Brightcove will be able to aid the NHL in distributing their content globally.

  • With that, fans should be excited. Promising to offer high-quality video, fast load times, and fewer disruptions, gone are the days of buffering and waiting for your video to load 😅😅

  • Already working with some of the biggest sports leagues in the world, Brightcove should be a safe pair of hands for the NHL.

“The NHL has selected Brightcove to ensure its fans receive reliable, high-quality and efficient video streaming, and we’re thrilled to partner with them to enhance their streaming capabilities… We look forward to working with the League to deliver a world-class, seamless streaming user experience to NHL fans worldwide.”

Marc DeBevoise, Brightcove CEO

The Big Return…

Burnley are back in the Premier League, but this weekend – how should we put this – wasn’t the fairytale return that many fans had hoped for.

Look, they didn’t have it easy… Facing Pep Guardiola’s treble winning Man City side, the match went the same way most people expected…

Yep, it doesn’t look like the Norwegian robot is ready to stop scoring any time soon 😅

But hey, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Burnley fans. In fact, they actually played pretty well.

Forcing the City backline into a number of mistakes early on, the Clarets showcased a relentless press and strong desire to make their mark on the game.

Displaying a performance that could only be described as a far cry from Sean Dyche’s classic 4-4-2, the club is in the midst of a pretty big overhaul.

One which – as you can expect – is involved pretty heavily with technology.

Striking a deal with Rapidz, the club announced this season's official Blockchain partner earlier this week.

Planning to help Burnley keep up with the digitalisation of the sports world, the deal will offer the club digital finance experiences using Blockchain technology.

With fans being at the heart of the partnership, multiple digital experiences and real-life experiences will be set up.

With Rapidz taking control over Turf Moor’s FanZone, fans should expect some pretty big things…

“It’s great to team up with Rapidz and welcome another exciting company to our portfolio of partners. We are always keen to bring new technology to our fans and drive a better experience for Clarets supporters. Teaming up with Rapidz offers us a fantastic opportunity to embrace innovation whilst putting fans at the heart of the partnership.”

Stuart Hunt, Burnley FC Director

We Need to Talk About: The Transfer Window

“The trouble with the transfer window is it creates a window where transfers have to be done…”

Gary Neville

We know what you’re thinking… That quote makes absolutely no sense. And – to be honest – you’re probably right.

But what Gary Neville is trying to say – at least what we think 😅– is that the transfer window creates both pressure and uncertainty.

I mean, where do we even start!? From last minute changes, to people literally being stalled at the airport, this weekend had it all…

Look, you know the way things usually tend to go. Clubs agree a fee, players figure out contract terms, medicals are booked, etc, etc.

Unless you’re Liverpool FC, of course…

Agreeing a club record fee to bring in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, the club had already booked medical slots and agreed terms with the player. Hell, Jurgen Klopp even came out in his pre-match press conference stating the deal was all but done!

The only issue? Caicedo wanted Chelsea. Badly.

Cancelling the deal at the last minute, it’s fair to say that the reaction was absolutely BONKERS!

But the madness didn’t stop there. Enter, Harry Kane.

After making the tough decision to leave Spurs, everything seemed set in stone for Harry Kane to leave to Bayern Munich.

Having already booked his flight to Germany, with Daniel Levy, he must have known it was never going to be that easy…

Demanding Bayern change the deal structure while Kane was waiting for his flight, the Englishman ended up having to delay his flight and go to a family member's home until the deal was settled…
