Now, onto the good stuff...
UFC 284: Dana White, You There?
Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski. Winner takes all.
For the first time ever, UFC Pound for Pound #1 faces off against #2.
Quite literally, it is the biggest fight the company could put on - maybe even the biggest fight in MMA. And by the way, it happens tomorrow. If you didn’t know, we wouldn’t blame you; and it looks like the champ wouldn’t either!
“I see that it is not such a big promotion. Dana White himself has some problems. He does not pay much attention to this fight. In terms of pay-per-view, yes, more could have been done. I only saw Volkanovski once, in Sydney. A tour could be organised around the world, a conference could be held in America.”
Yikes 😬Not what you want to hear from one half of your main event.
Dana’s response?
Ah, good ol’ slap fighting. A response only Dana White could give 🤣. It couldn’t get worse though, could it?
"So when you talk about legacy? If Volkanovski can pull this off, it’s obviously massive. And if... if, umm... you know... um yeah ... can pull it off, it’s... he’s on his way to building an incredible legacy."
Yep, you read that correctly. Dana White completely forgot Makhachev’s name during one of his last press conferences. Not a good look.

Manchester City: Time to Lawyer up!
Manchester City have been charged with breaking the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. With the club facing over 100 charges, this could get ugly. So what happened?
The club has been charged with allegations dated across 9 years. Claiming that the City top dogs have not provided accurate financial information, the allegations run deep through the inner workings of the club. From handing out secret contracts to not fully cooperating in the investigation, the club face serious repercussions.
So serious, in fact, that if proven guilty, potential punishments include:
Fines
Deduction of points
Limitations on player transfer spending
Limitations on wages for players and staff
Transfer embargo or restrictions on signing new players
Repayment of any overspent amounts to the Premier League
A requirement to provide the Premier League with a plan to achieve compliance with FFP rules in the future.
Expulsion from the league
The initial response from City has been fierce, ready to fight all charges.
Figures at #ManCity spoke bullishly as Monday progressed: there were complaints about the procedures and, in some ways, almost excitement at another opportunity to clear their name.

Watch 2 Earn: NBA x Web 3.0
You’re telling me that I can get real life rewards by just watching the NBA?
Last Monday, we spoke to you about NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s take on Web 3. More specifically, his confidence in its future. Well, looks like he wasn’t lying.
Taking after older crypto concepts like ‘play to earn’, The NBA has launched their very own ‘Watch to Earn’ initiative.
The program is aimed at incentivizing fans to watch live NBA games by offering rewards in the form of digital collectibles, merchandise, and other perks.
Fans can earn these rewards by logging into the NBA's official mobile app and watching live games on the app or on NBA League Pass.
The goal of the initiative is to engage fans and provide a more immersive experience for viewers of live NBA games.
“I’m always kind of thinking of ways for our show to break the fourth wall…How do we speak with our audience and not to our audience?”
The Super Bowl's Next Step
The NBA aren’t the only ones trying to increase fan engagement. The NFL has also recently turned a heavy focus onto the tech side of things.
Coming only a few days after the announcement of the league’s first virtual concert, it was found that 58% of US viewers would be interested in a metaverse Super Bowl experience.
In the study conducted by Amdocs, it was also seen that:
20% of fans would be open to the idea being of the event being covered in augmented reality (AR)
20% of fans would be open to the idea being of the event being covered in virtual reality (VR)
Less than half of those surveyed will watch the game on cable TV
In seeing the results from the survey, it's fair to say that this could be a viable option for the NFL. Moreover, it could lead to more engagement with younger fans, expanding their influence even further.
Watching the next Super Bowl be like:
