Most valuable public market sports teams

Let's get into it!

Out With The Old 👋

Dodgy decisions. Dread it, Run from it, Destiny arrives.

Whether it be Diogo Jota’s karate kick last weekend or any other seemingly outlandish call, refereeing errors have become a common theme in sport.

And to be honest, it makes sense. We’re all humans at the end of the day…

That’s where technology comes in.

We’ve heard it all before; “Tech will do this and that, and eventually take our jobs…” Well, the people who say that might actually be right. Here’s why:

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) have announced that by 2025, all line judge calls will be replaced by technology.

Yep, that’s right. Using the electric line calling (ELC) tech that has been increasingly prevalent in major events over the last few years, the game is well and truly changing forever.

Moreover, ELC live coverage will also allow for comprehensive tracking of both players and the ball. When combining this with recent innovations in data and analysis, major moves could be made in the game.

Despite this, it is worth noting that many major Grand Slams have not yet stated they’ll be following suit.

“This is a landmark moment for our sport, and not one we’ve reached without careful consideration. Tradition is core to tennis and line judges have played an important part in the game over the years. That said, we have a responsibility to embrace innovation and new technologies. Our sport deserves the most accurate form of officiating and we’re delighted to be able to deliver this across our whole Tour from 2025.”

Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman

Charging The Future

Look, here at The Sports Road, we love to bring you the best and most interesting.

So with that, we go from Tennis to Golf. We know. Riveting stuff 😎 Trust us though, this one’s pretty good…

A couple months back, we spoke about TGL Golf. Being the brainchild of greats such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, the up and coming tournament is set on using tech to drive the future of Golf.

So – with good reason – you may ask, what now?

Well, TGL has announced a BIG partnership. Playing into their vision of progressivity in sport through various avenues, the company has signed a multi-year deal with award-winning tech consultancy group, CapTech Ventures.

Planning to use CapTech’s abilities to create scoring and data platforms, we could be witness to some very interesting things…

This is what we know so far:

  • Building off what many say they find ‘boring’ about traditional Golf viewing, CapTech will build multiple systems to help engage fans with the competition. These will include golf simulators, launch monitors, motion capture, and fan-driven experiences

  • Using data gathered from real life performance, CapTech will also organise information and create an app available for fans during the competition

Having already worked with some of the biggest names in Golf, this partnership makes a lot of sense. Don’t believe us?

“CapTech’s experience and expertise with complex data systems in live sports has helped us to identify opportunities and develop solutions to capitalise on them. We knew immediately that they were the right partner as we reimagine golf in this hybrid format of virtual and live competition.”

Over. The. Top.

As you’ve read so far, today’s newsletter seems to have had a recurring theme… The New

Unfortunately though, sometimes in order to embrace the new – like we saw with the ATP – you have to throw out the old.

This is what Dyn Media, an up and coming German Sports streaming company is trying to do…

Planning to revolutionise sports streaming in the country, Dyn wants to raise the quality of their over-the-top (OTT) platform and has enlisted the help of experts in the field to do so.

Ladies and gentleman, let us introduce to you 🥁🥁🥁Todays AI segment!!!!!

That’s right. Teaming up with WSC Sports, a global leader in AI-powered sport content, Dyn will be able to automatically create real-time highlights available for immediate distribution.

Furthermore, the partnership will allow Dyn to further connect with sports fans, allowing the platform deeper levels of engagement. This will be done through using WSC’s AI-based systems to deliver custom-made personalised packages.

Bearing in mind that WSC Sports have pre-existing partnerships with ESPN, WBDS, and DAZN, the future seems VERY bright…

“As we prepare to launch the Dyn OTT platform, we are committed to working with the very best partners to provide a content experience that matches the enthusiasm our fans have for their favourite sports. The AI-powered technology that WSC Sports provides is a game-changer when it comes to real-time content production and distribution, providing fans with unlimited amounts of content for them to watch on the platform and device of their choice.”

Andreas Heyden, CEO of Dyn Media.

Game Changing Technology…

Times are changing, and sports are too.

Placing a far larger emphasis on building for the future, teams are trying to find innovative ways to spot the next big thing.

Well, if this partnership is anything to go by, technology is taking over.

Teaming up with Veo – a dedicated sports camera company – Beyond Sports are levelling up.

Beyond Pulse x Veo

Using their pre-existing wearable technology, Beyond Sports’ combination with Veo’s AI will allow coaches a much more thorough picture of player performance.

Using the data gathered by the combination of both technologies, coaches will be able to enhance player potential and experience.

Seeing data in both its raw and processed forms, training sessions will be able to be detailed into more engaging and impactful sessions.

Designed by coaches, the technology – unlike many others – captures the day-to-day struggles faced in the business.

“Video and data are an integral part of development in soccer. Having the tools to connect visual learning with data to back that up is a powerful solution for coaches and players alike. Through this partnership, Veo’s best-in-class AI video backed with Beyond Pulse’s wearable data tracking will revolutionise the ways teams prepare and analyse the game.”

Jono Callaghan, US Market Lead for Veo
