Football: Times Are Changing…

Look, everyone wants to see the best for their favourite professional athletes.

Working in front of the eyes of millions, the pressure mounted onto young men and women is huge. Oftentimes though – despite what we may think – in the midst of all that noise, their voices are actually drowned out.

Well, unless you’re someone like Zlatan or Joey Barton 😂😂😂

Alright, alright. We got sidetracked. Luckily, there’s an organisation in place which allows players to be fairly represented and accounted for – FIFPRO.

Yep, the federation whose name you always hear but never really know what they do…

Representing over 65,000 players, FIFPRO aims to aid in the development of Footballers both on and off the pitch. This is how they’re planning to use technology to reach the next step:

  • With performance metrics and data analysis being so easy to come across now, players have significantly less control over the way their data is being managed, controlled, and protected.

  • To combat the issue, this week FIFPRO announced a player-centric data management platform which will allow athletes the opportunity to gain a better idea of how their information is being distributed.

  • Promoting fair use, the platform will also unify data flows, break down barriers to access, and enable portability. These changes, altering current forms of data distribution, will actually work to accelerate the digital transformation of the sport.

Creating a system whereby more value is being placed on how data is being used, major changes could be coming to technology sectors.

With the explosion of technologies such as AI, the management of data in the industry could change the game massively!

Wrexham’s Newest Tech…

Ah Wrexham, here we go again…

For those who don’t know much about the club, essentially – and we know… this might sound crazy – they’re a Wales-based non-league Football club who literally rose into Hollywood stardom…

How, you ask? Well, in 2020 A-list celebrities, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, bought the club with BIG aspirations.

Ever since, the team has collaborated on huge projects with names like Disney and – despite having played in the fifth tier of English Football – already fielded former Premier League ballers 🤯🤯🤯

What now, you ask? Another big name partnership that could allow Wrexham to continue their meteoric rise to the top.

We all know just how important having the correct technology to process data is in today’s game, and by partnering with computer-giant HP, it looks like Wrexham have taken note…

With the partnership making HP the clubs official global technology partner, Wrexham will have immediate access to a variety of different services and products created by the firm.

Offering to improve scouting, coaching, data analysis, and more, when considering Wrexham’s position in the fourth division, this could put them at a SERIOUS advantage…

The Biggest Fight Ever?

THE BADDEST MAN ON THE PLANET…

If you’re a sports fan, you’ve heard this debate before. Who holds the title of the World’s baddest man? The UFC World Heavyweight Champion, or Boxing’s World Heavyweight Champion.

Fighting in two different sports, it’s pretty hard – if not impossible — to tell. BUT, it looks like the answer may become a whole lot clearer soon…

Yep, it’s happening. Tyson Fury is actually going to fight Francis Ngannou.

While we may have – how should we put this – been a bit sceptical about this fight, no one can deny the excitement that comes along with it.

I mean, for the first time ever, we would actually be seeing MMA’s Heavyweight king come up against Boxing’s…

This is what we know so far:

  • The fight will be 10 rounds, contested as a Boxing match. Taking place in Saudi Arabia, Ngannou has already claimed that he’s been training for this fight for over three years.

  • With both men promising to meet in the middle of the ring and slug it out, this fight could be one for the ages.

  • Seeing as Ngannou has been an advocate for increased fairness towards MMA fighters, this fight could potentially be the start of something VERY interesting…
